From Aimee Barth (BFA 01)  “Hi Everyone! I am Line Producing three short films for the Jameson First Shot Filmmaking Competition - a partnership between Trigger Street (Kevin Spacey's company) and Jameson Whiskey - and need to start putting our crews together.  We are hiring ALL positions except producers & directors.  If you are a DP, Editor, Production Designer, Field Mixer, Sound Designer, AD, gaffer, PA or anything in between and are interested and available to work in March/April of this year, please send me an email at JamesonFirstShot@gmail.com with your resume, reel, ideal position(s) and/or whatever else you think we should see/know about you.  I'd like to secure the crew and possibly even bring on a few office PAs to help me in mid-February.  p.s. Kevin Spacey will play a role in each film, so this should be a really great experience for everyone involved.  Thank so much guys - I hope to hear from you because I'd love to hire as many FSU alums as possible!  For more information about the competition - check out the site: http://www.jamesonfirstshot.com/.”

Are you going to Sundance?Dean Frank Patterson will have a gathering of Film School alums sometime during the week.   Send him a text to 850 228 2782 and let him know you are there (be sure to give your name in the text) and he’ll get back to you re when and where.

A television crew was in town to film Dean Emeritus Ray Fielding as on-camera commentator for a television special honoring the people who produced the Academy-Award-winning ‘March of Time’ film series back in the 1930’s. Dean Fielding is the author of a book-length history of the March of Time. He recently participated in  75th anniversary screenings of the series at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood and at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.

I'd be so grateful if you could help me spread the word to anyone that might be interested donating. The money goes to a great cause.... and I've come with losing weight and getting in shape. I feel like with the completion of this race, I'll be reaching a huge goal I set for myself after leaving FSU.”

From Joshua Mikel (BA Theatre/ Creative Writing '07): I just recently got word that a music video I produced for my friends Fake Problems' new song "Songs For Teenagers" (directed by Bobby Marinelli, DP'd by Kyle Reid, edited by Jamie Kassler, with production help from Tara Clark) will be getting an "MTV Push" campaign starting on 1/23 which means lots on placement on all of the MTV networks and sites as well as after all their prime time shows for 1 week. I hope everyone can tune in and check it out, as we worked real hard on the thing- plus it has some mermaids in it, which is pretty awesome.   Also a music video I recently conceived/ illustrated/ animated for the band Neon Trees had its premiere this week. You can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Rgf7enIgoc Most folks will know the band from their song, "Animal."

“My name is Mark Kamp and I  have started a new company and would like to have produced a 20-30 second video as part of my investor pitch.  I have the concept (in my head) but need assistance with filming and editing.  While I’m located in North Palm Beach, the project could be filmed elsewhere and the video could be used on your personal reel.  Will cover costs and a negotiable fee.  If you are interested contact me at mmkamp@gmail.com “

“Oscar-nominated Polish director Hanna Polak is currently seeking post-production funding for her new project.  An amazing story spanning 11 years in modern Russia, it is the story of the SVALKA,  a journey into the harsh realities or Russia's underclass, its homeless and its poor who live at a garbage dump on the outskirts of Moscow.   SVALKA (a Russian word for garbage dump) examines themes of homelessness (both adult and child), human rights, poverty and underage pregnancy in a new Russia.  Thirty years have passed since the collapse of the Soviet Union and the new Russia has more billionaires than any other country in the world.  While a few became oligarchs, the rest of Russia, between 40% and 50%, lives in poverty. It is an ironically beautiful to see what life is like for a group of Russians that found themselves homeless and must look to the dump for what they need to survive.  The fate of the garbage dump’s tenants is even more appalling as it contrasts with the lives of regular citizens living in nearby cosmopolitan and wealthy Moscow. Over a period of 11 years, we witness everything that happens here - dreams and horror; love and hate; life and death.    A few clips can be seen here:  http://vimeo.com/3487633 /font>http://vimeo.com/34876334> 4 /font>http://vimeo.com/34876334>  If you know of anyone that would be interested in helping or would like more information, please contact Piotr Uzarowicz atpuzaro@gmail.com.  “
