We have early confirmation that Oscar winner Stuart Robertson, winner of the 1999 Oscar for Best Visual Effects for What Dreams May Come and nominee for the 1984 British Academy of Film and Television Award for Zelig, will be our special guest at this year's Film School "A Night at the Oscars" party and fundraiser. He will be bringing his statuette for some very special photo opportunities!.

Florida State has adopted a university-wide email system which seems to be somewhat selective as to what emails we actually receive.  Hopefully this will clear up soon, but if you have emailed one of us at the Film School and not gotten a response, please try again!

From Brett Jacobsen (MFA 03)  “Working at Paramount (as a marketing editor)  certainly has it's perks. It's fun to be on the lot and I'm now in the editor's union which is nice. I'm still editing short format featurettes and sizzle pieces but now I'm working exclusively on Paramount movies. The product is more "marketing" and less "dvd bonus feature" material. I recently edited a sizzle piece about Tom Cruise's stunts on the tallest building in the world for MI4. It's a wild scene. Here's the website if your interested:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcl-zxvqyi8

From Glenn Kaufmann (MFA  97)  “ Things have gone extremely well since my wife and I permanently relocated to Ireland this past July. I've continued to work as travel writer/editor, and began writing a blog about the Modern Immigrant Experience (http://www.anamericanindublin.com).  Additionally, I've begun covering filmmaking and theatrical production in Ireland.  I've also been selected for the 2012 Mentoring Programme for Playwrights, run by two Dublin theatre companies (The Mill Theatre and Fishamble: The New Play Company).”

Justin Rowe (BFA 95) ran across this link which is an opportunity to donate to a scholarship in memory of Scott Love (BFA 96).  Scott enlisted in the Army in 1999 to secure a position in Military Intelligence and attend the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, CA. While attending DLI, Scott married his wife Aimee, and their daughter Vina was born.  After completion of the Arabic language course and interrogator training, Scott was assigned to the 312th MI Battalion at Fort Hood, TX . Scott deployed to Kuwait in November 2001 during Operation Enduring Freedom. After his return to Fort Hood, Scott completed the NCO Academy as Distinguished Honor Graduate.  In 2003, Scott left Fort Hood to go to Officer Candidate School . Following completion of OCS and other courses at Fort Benning, Scott was assigned to 2nd Battalion, 6th Infantry stationed at Baumholder, Germany. His unit deployed to Kuwait in November 2005 with Scott's platoon assigned as part of Task Force 1-35 Armor. Following several months serving as Central Command reserve, his unit entered Iraq for operations in Anbar province. On 7 June 2006, Scott and PFC Nick Crombie were killed and two other soldiers were wounded while on a combat patrol in Ar Ramadi when an improvised explosive device was detonated, destroying their vehicle.
