From Shane Houghton (BFA 07) “My comic book, REED GUNTHER, has been collected into a trade paperback! It's 184 pages of bear-riding adventure! My brother (and artist) and I are super excited to have our first big collection available in comic shops and book stores nation wide, as well as digitally on apps like the Image Comics app and Comixology. We are lucky enough to continue the series on for at least five more issues, so look for REED GUNTHER #6 in comic shops December 7th! If anyone wants to snag a copy of REED GUNTHER VOL. 1, Amazon.com has it for pretty cheap: http://tinyurl.com/7pwcl5q span>http://tinyurl.com/7pwcl5q> But if you prefer digital books, check out the entire series here: https://comics.imagecomics.com/#/series/6053 <#/series/6053>

She's available for spring or summer term (January through August). Any leads would be greatly appreciated! Please contact me and I'll pass the info to her -- jmack@uab.edu.”

On the Road to Tel Aviv will screen at The Film School in the Mix A Theater on Tuesday November 29th at 8pm. This is a film directed by Khen Shalem (MFA 07), a Film School graduate, and has won numerous awards. It is a powerful 15 minute short. After the screening, the director will be present to lead a Q & A session. "On the Road to Tel Aviv" is about a young Israeli who finds himself in a frightening situation when a suspicious looking Arab woman enters the same bus as his fiancée. He then tries to get his fiancée out of the bus without creating too much of a scene, but panic ensues and he must right the situation, as the realities of war, terror, and enemies are exposed. It is a story of mistrust, fear, prejudice, and the thin line that separates them. If you were sitting on an airplane, about to take off and a suspicious person came on board, what would you do?
