The Television Academy Foundation is now accepting applications for the Summer 2010 Internship Program. Visit our website at www.emmysfoundation.org a href="http://emmys.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT02ODc0MTgmcD0xJnU9NzU2MzUzNzMwJmxpPTI2MjQ1MDQ/index.html">http://emmys.informz.net/z/cjUucD9taT02ODc0MTgmcD0xJnU9NzU2MzUzNzMwJmxpPTI2MjQ1MDQ/index.html> for more information. The postmark deadline is March 15, 2010. You must be a full-time student pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree. Students graduating prior to 6/30 are eligible to apply in certain categories only.” Note: these are wonderful internship opportunities and I urge all of our students/new alums to apply.

From Chris Bailey (BFA 04) “I got married in 2007 and have been living and working in Sydney Australia for the past two years at a post production company called Fluid Post (www.fluidpost.com a href="http://www.fluidpost.com">http://www.fluidpost.com a href="http://www.fluidpost.com">http://www.fluidpost.com> > ) where I've been able to learn a great deal about motion graphics and visual effects. I've even been fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to direct the visual effects on a few commercials over the past two years with our main client, Nickelodeon Australia. Its been a very challenging and rewarding time overall and I'm very excited about the opportunities ahead in 2010.”

From Matt Olmon (MFA 03) “I've entered a short film contest called Your Big Break. Five finalists will be flown to New Zealand to participate, with director Peter Jackson and producer Barrie Osborne overseeing everything. There's only one day left for entries and votes, so if you have 90 seconds, please pop over to this link, watch my 60 second pitch, and if you can, give me a vote. If you care to participate more, you can read the screenplay (3 pages), write a comment, or even share the entry on your Facebook page. Thanks for helping, and I hope you like the pitch. http://www.your-big-break.com/entry/12869 a href="http://www.your-big-break.com/entry/12869">http://www.your-big-break.com/entry/12869>

Khen Shalam (MFA 07)’s short film ROAD TO TEL-AVIV, which won the Angeles Award, has been selected to be part of five films that will be screened at the Windrider Forum at Sundance. The Windrider Forum is primarily an evangelical based Christian group. They bring college filmmakers from across the country (around 100) to Park City during the week of Sundance and they have guest speakers and do "classroom" type sessions discussing faith and film. Khen’s film will be screened on Monday evening, January 25th at the Mountain Vineyardat Church in Park City.

From Valerie Wicks (BFA 08) “I’m a Video Game Tester these days :) another dream industry of mine.
I’ve been working for Legacy Interactive and I’m about to work for Square Enix for 9 months.”

From Eric Yang (MFA 07) “I just finished another short film, "The Darkroom", a 25-minute short that tells the story of an old photographer's bitter battle against his estranged daughter during the transition to the digital age. The film was funded by Grand Valley State University, where I'm currently teaching as a visiting professor. We shot the film last summer in West Michigan, and it was like an FSU reunion - Julie Hotz (MFA 07) was my DP, and the leading characters were played by Michael Richey, professor at the theater department at FSU, and his former student Eleanor Caudill. Both Michael and Eleanor acted in a number of FSU films in the past. Pete Winter, who mixed my D2 during my film school years as well as many of my classmates' films, mixed the film and Cineworks offered us generous discounts on the processing, conforming, and color grading of the film.”

From Craig Kief (BFA 99) “A couple of months ago I shot a great little music video in Nashville for Boys Like Girls and Taylor Swift. It's now number 21 on the VH1 Top 20, and with your help I'm positive we can push it to number 20 or higher. It is very easy to do, and only takes about a minute. You don't even have to watch the video. Just drag and drop the name of the video (Boys Like Girls "Two is Better Than One") into the number 1 slot on the webpage. http://www.vh1.com/shows/series/top_20_countdown/vote.jhtml And for all of you closet Taylor Swift fans... no she's not in the video, but there's an actress who looks like her in the story so you can pretend you're watching her while you listen to her sing :)”

More Spring Semester interns. Joanna Truman is with Soapbox; Lee Carlisle at Film Nation; Jacqueline Richards at Mosiac; Rickia Page at Scott Free and Simmons/Lathan Media Group; Justin Vaughan at Josphen Brothers and Sy Fy.

From Miguel Nolla (BFA 05) “Fully furnished room available in charming three bedroom-one-bath apartment in the heart of Silver Lake, one of LA's most vibrant and artistic neighborhoods. Having undergone a complete renovation 2 years ago, this 1920's historic cottage with balcony and views of the Silver Lake hills is steps away from iconic music venue Spaceland, as well as shopping, restaurants, cafe, 7-11, newly opened Silver Lake Library and the Silver Lake recreational area. Minutes from everywhere worth going in this city! Other two roommates are BFA 05. From Jacquelin Richards (BFA 09) “Lego car girl here, BFA '09. I donated my '96 Toyota Tercel decorated in knock-off legos to an FSU filmster in need (BFA '10) because it wasn't going to make the journey to LA and I wanted to give a little back. I'm in LA and an intern at Mosaic Entertainment (Dark Knight, Step Bros, & Scooby Dooooo). Part of the deal is that I have a car. We all have no shame walking in asking for things so I'm doing just that. I've been pitching a "deal" to a few Toyota dealers in town to get a car. I'm trying to do a viral internet marketing campaign to pitch a deal with one lucky Toyota dealer. It's going to be a Blizard White Prius. My non-film friends and FSU alum are tweeting me out but I could really use as many tweets as possible. A little help from my Noles would be so gratefully appreciated. Please add me on twitter or RT the tweet and I'll add you. @iamjacquelin FSU Director @iamjacquelin donates car & moves to LA http:// tinyurl.com/ykvnutx Pitchin deals for a PRIUS. #Toyota

Attention Film School actors: “For those of you familiar with our audition process, you may know that we typically conduct open auditions at the beginning of the Spring semester (usually in January). However, this year we have decided to conduct the auditions later in the semester (most likely in April). These auditions will coincide with the film projects that will be shooting from May through July. Stay tuned to your email for exact dates on those auditions as we get closer. For those of you who auditioned with us in the Fall (Sept. and/or Dec.), those auditions are still current and available to our students filming this semester. Thank you everyone for your interest in acting with the Film School. We couldn’t do what we do without you.”

“Groundswell Productions, an independent production and financing company run by producer Michael London, is looking for interns. We are a busy company heavily involved in the filmmaking process on every level. The usual intern duties apply; this includes reading scripts. This is an excellent opportunity for anyone looking for exposure to the film world. Please ONLY email the following: your resume as a PDF and also what days and hours you can work in a given week. Please email Eric at eborja@groundswellfilms.com.”

Tallahassee: “The Peace on Earth Center in Railroad Square is looking for individuals dedicated to world peace to participate in a video project on a partially paid, partially volunteer basis. This is for our WEB based Peace (TV) Show. The set is amazing (like Letterman, etc), and on it we'll be having musical and other intriguing guest visitors. Our goal is to have a weekly show and also film live on first Fridays. We are looking for participants with expertise in filming, editing and directing and also finding and using the appropriate software. This is a very low budget operation, so having creative thrifty sensibilities is a plus! Please contact us at: 850-251-8183 or email: itsjustme108@yahoo.com
