The FSU Film School will hold open casting calls for Graduate Thesis Films on:  Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 10:00AM - 7:00PM  No appointment needed. No experience necessary.  These auditions are being held to cast specific roles in our 2012 MFA Thesis Films. If you would like to see if there is an appropriate role for you, please visit our website:  http://seminolefilmcasting.webs.com/ a href="http://seminolefilmcasting.webs.com/%3E">http://seminolefilmcasting.webs.com/>;  On the website you will find a short synopsis of each film as well as character descriptions and script sides. Please choose a role for which you would like to read, and come in prepared to perform that side.  What to expect at the audition:  When you come in, we will take a headshot and get some basic info from you (name, contact info, experience, interests, etc.). You may also bring a headshot and/or resume, but it is not necessary. We will bring you into a room where we will then video record you performing the side you selected. Depending on how many people show up, the whole process can take anywhere from a half hour to about 2 hours.  When the students are ready to start casting for their films, they will refer to these auditions to find someone who fits their casting needs. If there is a match, the student will contact you. That's it!  The FSU Film School is located in the University Center, Building A (on the north side of the Doak Campbell Stadium), off Pensacola Street at Champions Way, Tallahassee, FL.  For more information please contact Nicole Rogers, Casting Director, by email at fsuauditions12@gmail.com<fsucastingfla@gmail.com <mailto:fsuauditions12@gmail.com%3Cfsucastingfla@gmail.com> >.

From Brandi Bradburn Holland (MFA  99) “Dan is editing on Parenthood for NBC, and Brandi is editing on Hart Of Dixie for the CW and teaching editing theory at UCLA film school. Brandi was also able to get FSU alum, Ben Bumgarner (MFA), on-board as an assistant editor for Hart of Dixie. Emma Jean is almost 7, Henry is 4 and Will is 2 and 1/2 and we live in a cozy little-known neighborhood near South Pass with great schools and a wonderful community. We definitely have a FULL life happening out here, but we are enjoying it immensely.”

Check out this interview with Adam Cornelius (BFA  99) about his documentary on TETRIS: http://www.elecplay.com/all/spotlight/ecstasy-of-order-the-tetris-m...

From John D’Arco (MFA 05)  “another Film School baby has joined the FSU family. Megan (MFA 04) and I welcomed our beautiful daughter Juliet Ellen to the world on 11/17. She is 7 lbs of pure joy!

“Julie Hansen's (MFA 93) current book: "Diminished Capacity: A Memoir of a Girl Consumed by her Addictions" is a darkly funny, engaging, and true story focusing on my life in L.A. as an oft-optioned screenwriter, co-Student Emmy Award winner and well-connected film and TV industry employee. Also, a somewhat psychotic speed addict, personal shopper for gay meth drug dealers and eventual successful ID thief. Inevitably, like many increasingly sloppy and irrational addicts, I got caught. Lots of guns were pointed at my head. Jail, recovery and posy-incarceration poverty reluctantly got me well. I’ve been free of speed for eight years, now. My odyssey is told in segments, one logically (or at least irrevocably) following into the next… My book is available for download at Amazon for Kindle and to your blackberry, android, ipad, ipod, computer and as an e-book for the Nook at Barnes and Noble. Enjoy.”

From Sandra Boysen “My best friend, my wonderful husband and my great love, Charlie Boyd, passed away quietly and painlessly this morning, Wednesday, November 16th, at about 7:10 am in his room at Strong Memorial Hospital after a long hospitalization due to infection.  His heart, which he had received five-and-a-half years ago in transplant surgery at Strong, remained strong to the last, and the good people at the Cardiac Transplant team there gave him those years, which otherwise he would never have had, with full  professionalism and personal compassion.  Charlie's wishes were to be cremated and not to have a funeral or memorial  service. I am asking that if anyone should wish to do something in his
memory, please make a memorial donation to the Tuition Assistance program at the Hochstein School of Music, 50 N. Plymouth Ave., Rochester NY 14614. Charlie played clarinet in his high school band and played drums in a rock band to earn money during his undergraduate college days, and would appreciate knowing that his memory would be helping others to enjoy learning new musical skills.  The world is a better place because he was in it for 61 years.” NOTE:  For those of you who weren’t fortunate to know Charlie, he taught editing at the Film School for several years.

From Lauren Miller (BFA 03)  “My husband, some friends, and I are putting together a large charity event to benefit the Alzheimer's Association in Los Angeles on Friday, January 13th and we're asking for your help. Here's the official blurb about the event:  Hilarity for Charity is a first time event benefiting the Alzheimer’s Association. Lead by Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller, Hilarity for Charity will march its way into the headspace of the younger generation. For far too long, Alzheimer’s has been categorized as an “old person’s disease”, but with the rapid rate at which this disease is growing and the scary estimate of 16 million diagnosed Americans by 2050, it’s time to get the younger folks, who will be the older folks by then, involved. The design of the show is tailor made for this specific younger generation. Their favorite bands will be on stage. Their favorite actors will make cameos. And their favorite comedians will have them laughing into a state of awareness.  We are currently looking for sponsorship for the event ranging from $5000-$100,000 (for title sponsorship). The different levels of sponsorship include a variety of incentives (tickets to the event, advertising, etc.). If you or a company you know or work for might be interested in becoming a sponsor, please email me at LaurenAnneMiller@gmail.com and I'd be happy to send along our sponsorship package and answer any questions. You can also learn more about our event on our facebook page https://www.facebook.com/#!/hilarity4charity. Tickets to attend will go on sale on December 13th. Thanks!”

From Daniel Aviles (MFA  09)  “No Thanksgiving here in Quito, however, I am constantly thinking about the FSU crowd and being thankful for such experience.  So here's an update from down here.  2011 has been a great year. I have had the chance to keep learning lots by the good old process of trial and error. Mostly error, I must say.   I have been lucky to shoot 2 extra features this year; one for theatrical release in Ecuador "El Facilitador" (Dir: Victor Arregui).  Another one, "Getuige" (Dir. Hanro Smitsman),  to be broadcast in Holland’s TV this coming December.   I also did some Second Unit Cinematography for another Dutch TV Film "Eileen" (Dir. Hanro Smitsman). Some commercials, some other things. I cannot complain.  You can check my updated demo reel in www.danielaviles.com font color="#0000FF">http://www.danielaviles.com>  font color="#0000FF">http://www.danielaviles.com>    But, maybe, the highest point of the year was being able to see most of my MFA classmates back in July. They are all doing great in LA. I was happy to see they are still hanging out together…and still better looking than me!.”

From Franko Galoso (BFA  03)  “Here are my commercials for the Doritos Crash the Super Bowl contest.

Is there an FSU alum who works on ABC”s prime time TV show, Once Upon A Time?  The November 20 episode had a line referencing the lead enjoying her two years in Tallahassee. We’re just wondering if an FSU alum is involved in that show!

From Michael James Nelson (FSU 03) “I put together a sketch that is now on Funny Or Die starring FSU alumni Lauren Phillips, Guerrin Gardner, Charles Ingram, Nick Corirossi, myself, and Chris Rice. It also features Danielle Uhlarik and the host of the Jersey Shore After Hours and Reunion Show Amy Paffrath. If you have a minute, check it out. It's called DaddyIssuesDating.com, a commercial for the newest dating website for girls with daddy issues that want to find the perfect fit for them. http://FunnyOrDie.com/m/69fg
