Yeming Jin (MFA 03) is now the top Asian woman director for her feature Sophie’s Revenge, which she wrote and directed. Lead actress in the movie is is Zhang Ziya, who was in Crouching Tiger. Armando Salas, MFA 02) dp'd; Jennifer Lai (MFA 01) was Camera and Paul Marschall (MFA 00) was Gaffer. The film was released in China in August 09 and is now released in China, Hongkong, Taiwan, Korea, Japan, Thailand and all of Asia. From Daniel Aviles (MFA 09) “I just wrapped my first feature-length documentary as DP here in Ecuador. It was a 4 week journey into the lives of Ecuadorean "underground" filmmakers, who make movies for DVD release on the informal market. They produce their features with almost nothing ($2000 or less) and then distribute them through the pirates. It has been a great learning experience for me. Ecuador has been generous so far. I have had a steady job as freelance DP for commercials (already shot 6 on HD format) and both fiction and documentary projects.”

The Jacksonville Film Festival will be hosting a FREE Screenwriting Workshop on Saturday, March 27th - 1-4pm at MOCA here in Jacksonville. This intensive screenwriting workshop which instructs writers on how to make sure that their script is polished and ready to submit to agents, producers, production companies or screenwriting competitions. As a former script reader and current script doctor and Coordinator of the Jacksonville Film Festival, I'll be instructing.
